We received the following notice from COX Communications:

Network updates are coming to your area to meet your growing needs. This will cause a brief, planned outage where you’ll be unable to access internet and your other Cox services, including emergency 911 calls. Make sure you have other communication options for emergencies. These outages usually happen intermittently for about 4 hours and can start at 6 AM. We’ll send you an email when we’re all done. If you have any questions, please contact Cox Communication service directly.

The way you submit approval requests for architectural changes to your home has recently been modified. The fees for anything other than remodeling or additions have been reduced, and at the same time, the forms used to submit requests have been modified to include the new fee structure and to provide more guidance on the submittal process.

There are two different forms… one used exclusively for those wanting only to re-paint their house, and another for those requesting any other improvements, from landscaping changes to major remodels.

• Re-Painting – Application Fee $50 (non-refundable). This fee reduction was effective August 29, 2023. If you applied for re-painting after that date and paid the old $250 fee, you will be receiving a $200 reimbursement soon.
• Other Improvements
  • Remodel or Addition – Application Fee $2,750 ($500 is refundable if work is approved).
  • All Other Improvements (landscape/hardscape, solar, roof tile replacement, awnings, etc.)
    • Application Fee $50 (non-refundable).
    • An additional non-refundable $450 will be applied if the ACC requires the services of a hired professional architect or engineer to review the application.
    • This fee reduction was effective December 5, 2023. If you applied after that date and paid the old $500 fee, you will be receiving a $450 reimbursement if professional services were not required.

New Notification Forms: There are also three new forms to be used for notifying the HOA of certain situations. If you have work either inside or outside your home that requires any of the things listed below, there is a Notification Form that must be filled out and submitted ahead of time. There is no fee for any of these.

• Road work such as digging a trench in the street (Form F-3 - Road Work Notification.pdf)
• Large crane lifting for things like AC units or trusses (Form F-4 – Crane Lift Notification.pdf)
• Dumpsters and/or Porta-A-Pottys (Form F-5 - Dumpster - Port-a-Potty Notification.pdf)

Form Location: All of the forms mentioned above are now available from the TMT Portal. They are also available from the Community Manager at the East Gate.

Revised Standards Document: A revision to the Architectural Design and Maintenance Standards (often called the Architectural Guidelines) has been created. It includes all the changes described in this notice, plus a few others, and is now available on the Portal.

The Ancala Board of Directors Invite you to join us for a Safety & Firewise Town Hall

6:00 pm:  Scottsdale Police Officer Brian Hartman will speak about the break-ins in the area and safety precautions.

6:30 pm: Scottsdale Fire Captain Steven Hunter will present on Firewise.

The Firewise USA™ program has empowered neighbors since 2002 to work together in reducing their wildfire risk, teaching people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encouraging neighbors to work together and take action now to prevent damage and losses. Ancala has been a Firewise Certified Community since 2018. It is time once again for the annual clean up. Participating in the program shows that the community committed to reducing risks from wildland fire. The benefit of a Firewise community is the creation of a safer environment for you, your neighborhood and fire fighters. Be sure to check with your insurance agent as being a certified Firewise community may lower your home insurance premium. With the rainfall this year, fire events in valley are reported to be even more likely.

With the onset of spring, the invasive buffelgrass is starting to turn green and ready for treatment.

This is just an fyi incase you see some unusual activity.  They have already completed their first round of invasive species treatment and removal. 

For this round please note the following:

From February 28th through March 4th, the City’s crew will be on the slope above Ancala West treating the invasive grasses.  This work entails a crew of 6 to 8 people walking a grid pattern across the hill and using backpack sprayers to selectively apply treatments to the invasive grasses.  Residents of Ancala might notice people moving back and forth on the hill.  The work will occur on parcels owned by the City of Scottsdale and Taliesin, and the crew will be accessing the site from Taliesin.
